UAE Man Gets Dhs 1 Million In Radar Fines
Excessive speeding, overtaking on the hard shoulder and driving recklessly can land a driver with hefty fines.
But one driver in particular broke so many traffic rules that Ras Al Khaimah Police issued him a fine of Dhs 1 million.
“The motorist was caught by radars on the roads, and found him committing a number of traffic violations, including speeding,” Major General Ali Abdullah Bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, told the Arabic daily Al Khaleej.
The Dhs 1 million fine is the most expensive that Ras Al Khaimah authorities had to issue in recent years, with the second largest fine recorded at Dhs 250,000.
However, the two motorists did receive some leniency and were granted a 50 per cent discount as part of Ras Al Khaimah Police’s celebration to mark International Happiness Day, which was held last March.
